How I rank the Star Wars films @starwars #starwars

I was 6 years old when the first Star Wars film was released in May 25, 1977 before they subtitled it officially “A New Hope”. Since then I’ve been hooked and was a fanatic, like many kids were back then. Over the years I acquired an array of toys and collectables sporting the Star Wars logo on them. If I would have kept the collection, it would be worth approximately worth over at least $50,000 today. I dumped my collection in the 1990s for no good reason but to “lighten the load”. HUGH mistake! Had I had a crystal ball revealing to me that Disney would by the Lucas franchise I would’ve sat on it. Well, that is water under the bridge. I felt the loss as I sold it bit by bit.

I still was interested in the storylines created in the Expanded Universe, hoping for future films based on these new ideas. In the meantime, I’ve followed the next series of films recapping the origin of Darth Vader. I was 28 years old when the prequel trilogy began. Needless to say, my priorities changed over time and accumulating a collection was not in my repertoire. I was in the process of planning a wedding and my fascination was lessened by the prospect of marriage. I never made it to the alter but I remained in relationship with the lady and begat a girl a few years later. At age 44, the next series of films under Disney was released in December 2015 with The Force Awakens. I gaze at all the toys in my local Walmart with the Star Wars logo in wonder of what I could’ve made today had I kept my collection. Oh well.

On to my ranking of all the Star Wars films. I just saw the latest release “Rogue One” Thursday night December 15, 2016 and I have to say, I wasn’t as geeked about it as I use to be, but I was still fascinated by the technology advances over time. I thought it was neat how they gave a backstory leading up to “Star Wars: A New Hope”. I will give my review after the opening weekend so I don’t spoil anything for the true fans.

OK! So I ranked some films unreleased yet, but anything made will be better than Phantom Menace. I went to see the film twice in the theatres and left feeling empty and hopeless for the rest of the future films. They were relying heavily on CGI, taking away from the authentic feel the original trilogy gave me. They redeemed themselves with The Force Awakens and having given me a new hope [pun intended].
